KAMA Ayurveda Store Officially Opens in Notting Hill
Leading Ayurvedic beauty and wellness brand KAMA AYURVEDA has officially opened its first standalone store in the UK at 207 Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, London. The multi-storey location features an immersive shopping experience on the ground floor, as well as two treatment rooms housed on the lower ground floor housing a service menu of Ayurvedic treatments.
A modern home to Ayurveda, the Indian philosophy of wellbeing, the KAMA AYURVEDA store brings this ancient medicinal science back into the light with in-store experiential events, an educational offering, and partnerships with experts in the Ayurvedic space. Consultations with leading Ayurvedic Vaidyas and practitioners will be at the heart of the consumer experience, inviting customers to gain a deep understanding of their Ayurvedic needs and requirements with bespoke advice.
Founded by Vivek Sahni in 2002 with the aim to reintroduce Ayurveda into the world, KAMA AYURVEDA is the purveyor of skin care and hair care products made using authentic ancestral Ayurvedic formulations. Led by parent company Puig, the family-owned beauty and fashion business which acquired a majority stake in the brand in September 2022, the brand’s UK launch signifies its first market expansion outside of India.
The 750 sq ft retail space at 207 Westbourne Grove houses 32 SKUs across skin care, hair care and body care, providing an opportunity for customers to become immersed in KAMA Ayurveda’s luxurious and sensorial formulations, and experience the natural ingredients and potent botanical blends that have been celebrated in Ayurveda for thousands of years for their beauty enhancing properties.
A carefully curated service menu offers traditional Ayurvedic treatments including the ‘Legendary Glow Facial,’ a signature radiance facial using the brand’s herbal blends whereby 56 precise massage movements stimulate the {marma} points to revive blood circulation and encourage purification, resulting in a rested and radiant glow. Alongside this, the ‘{shiroabhyanga} Hair and Head Massage’, using the brand’s best-selling Bringadi Hair and Scalp Oil, is based on traditional {abhyanga} massage techniques which activate blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in the head, neck and shoulders for mind-body-soul balance.
Thoughtfully designed by renowned Jaipur- based creative Marie-Anne Oudejans, the KAMA Ayurveda Notting Hill store interior denotes a lively, modern Ayurvedic apothecary cabinet, encompassing bold geometrics, intricate traditional motifs and Indian architectural codes. The red and gold colour palette embodies the warmth of a sanctuary, enlivened by murals of Kerala centred around the elephant; one of the brand’s totems. The store houses an impressive lighting sculpture inspired by Kerala, created in collaboration with contemporary Indian design house Klove Studio. Acting as a visual storytelling medium, Marie-Anne’s interior design will become embedded within the brand’s identity.
Vivek Sahni, founder of KAMA AYURVEDA, comments: “KAMA AYURVEDA is a 22-year-old brand with a rich history in India. We already know how important the in-store experience is from our 64 stores located across India, and by bringing this to the UK, we are confident that the brand’s customer base and loyal following will continue to grow. Westbourne Grove serves as the perfect location, with its global residents, international visitors, high footfall and retail presence from brands with like-minded philosophies when it comes to health and wellbeing. We are looking forward to this pivotal moment for KAMA AYURVEDA as it extends its bricks and mortar experience internationally for the first time.”
