Renowned Hairdresser Trevor Sorbie MBE Passes Away at 75

Trevor Sorbie MBE, the celebrated British hairdresser known for his innovative contributions to the industry, has passed away at the age of 75. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family and beloved dog.

Sorbie's illustrious career began in the 1960s, and he quickly became a leading figure in hairdressing. He gained prominence at Vidal Sassoon, where he created "The Wedge," an iconic hairstyle that has been emulated countless times but never surpassed. In 1979, he opened his first salon, establishing a brand synonymous with creativity and excellence.

Ealier last month, Sorbie publicly shared his diagnosis of terminal bowel cancer, expressing his determination to remain positive despite the prognosis. He emphasized the importance of mental strength, stating, "The brain rules the body. The heart plays a big part as well, but that is the engine."

The Trevor Sorbie team released a heartfelt statement on the passing: "It is with heartfelt emotion that we share the passing of our esteemed founder, Trevor Sorbie MBE. Trevor passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog by his side. Trevor often reminded us to 'be bold, be different, but always do everything in good taste.' His ethos of kindness, care, and excellence continues to guide us. He expressed immense pride in our team and confidence in our commitment to carrying forward his legacy."

In lieu of a funeral, Sorbie's family has requested donations to charities close to his heart: Marie Curie, Cancer Research UK, Rowans Hospice, and My New Hair. A special event celebrating his life and contributions is planned for next year, with details to be announced.
