Top Nail Trends from Spring/Summer 2022

If you’re ready to fast forward to March, our predictions of Spring 2022's nail trends can get you there. Nail tech Holly Rox, based Mark David Salon has delved into what we can expect from the upcoming season to help you get on top of the hues and nail shapes.

1) Pastels

A comeback every spring, pastel hues will again be popular in spring/summer 2022. With Very Peri the Pantone Colour of the Year, shades of periwinkle blue, lavender and lilac will be amongst the most highly requested pastel hues in the salon, as well as powdery pinks and sage like greens. For those looking for something a bit more experimental, we will see requests of a different pastel hue on every finger for a fun take on the trend.

2) Greens

This spring/summer we will see more green than ever before and in different shades and finishes. For pastel lovers, sage green is a beautiful choice or for those looking for something more neutral, khaki and earthy green tones are a fantastic choice. We will also see a lot of emerald greens coming back on trend – a very luxe and expensive looking colour. I love pairing this with a matte topcoat instead of a glossy topcoat to give the mani an edgy finish.

3) Opaque neutrals

Neutrals are always on trend but for spring/summer 2021 we will see these become more opaque and iridescent. This is a stunning choice for those who prefer a more natural, subtle looking mani and for those who want something that will go with all their outfit choices whilst also giving their nails a gorgeous shine.

4) Florals

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

To get in the spring mood we will see floral nail art come into the mix this season. Whether these are applied by being stuck onto the nail or by being painted with polish freehand (my favourite choice) they are a great way to take a simple mani to the next level and give them an instant pretty update.

5) Metallic French

French tips have been a huge hit over the past year and this will continue into 2022, however, with a slightly more glamorous finish! Clients will be requesting glitter tips to give their manicure a fun and funky finish. These can be paired with a natural or coloured base and I think they will be a particularly big hit with clients for special events this year.
